8-Week No. 1
Some records are meant to be easily broken, but Brett James’ consecutive 8-week string in the No. 1 position on the Top 60 Country Songwriter Chart will likely hold the leader board for some time to come.
Like charting a “perfect storm” on the weather channel, the writer has benefitted from four songs all gaining activity in unison. A quick look at Aircheck’s radio list and/or Billboard’s Hot Country illustrates why these four songs have been strong point gainers, but also how the No. 1 dome is progressing. Note that in four of the eight slots on the table below there was no movement. Two of the slots increased by only one position. Of the four songs, “Bottoms Up” seems to have the most upward momentum, forecasting that the points generated from these songs may be close to peaking. Will Mr. James be able to extend his incredible record a little further? We’ll have to wait till next week to find out!
