Congrats to Ashley Gorley and Taylor Swift who have retained the No. 1 and No. 2 positions respectively on our Country Songwriter chart for the entire seven chart weeks of 2017 .
For Swift, her points have been generated from only one song—”Better Man.” Since she is the sole writer of that powerful composition she gets all the points it generates because song points are divided equally among a song’s co-writers. (Swift’s pop songs are not counted in this tally.)
Gorley has seven co-written titles contributing to his point total which is generally about 40% higher than anyone else on the chart simply due to the amazing quantity (and quality) of his songs that are active singles.
We’ve seen more movement in the third position. Ross Copperman occupied the No. 3 slot for the first three chart weeks of the year. Hillary Lindsey followed for one week, then Rhett Akins for three weeks.
A Week 7 shout out to Ben Stennis (who has an inner rhyme in his name) for getting this week’s Greatest Gainer honor!
